About Us

History

We are a registered non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and connecting the 2SLGBTQ+ community and allies across Northern Ontario. The Northern Ontario Pride Connection was founded in 2023 by Katlyn Kotila and Kyelle Byne, two passionate individuals who recognized the need for resources and positive role models for the 2SLGBTQ+ community in the region. Later joined by a passionate and experienced team of Directors, we set out to establish an organization that would bridge these gaps and provide vital services.

Our Values

We are guided by the values of inclusivity, diversity, equality, and respect. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to thrive and live authentically, free from discrimination and prejudice. Our work is grounded in fostering a sense of connection, unity, and empowerment within the community.

Our home office is located on the traditional lands of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and operates within the territory of the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850. These lands encompass strong and vibrant communities whose enduring presence and resilience is felt throughout our shared history and in the present day.

Every single day we stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples throughout Northern Ontario and honour all the ancestral stewards of this land on which we work and live. As an organization that seeks to amplify the voices of those whose voices are often left underrepresented we will continue to encourage and support the learning, adapting, sharing, supporting, and fighting that is required to move towards true reconciliation. We believe that change doesn't happen in silence but rather through intentional work and honest conversations.

Native Land is a resource to learn more about Indigenous territories, languages, lands, and ways of life. You are invited and challenged to learn more about the lands you inhabit, the history of those lands, and how to actively be part of a better future going forward together.

We are ALL on Native Land
